Enrolling your child in Primary School

If your child’s birthday is between September 1st and February 28th they will normally start school in the September before they are five.
If their birthday falls between the 1st March and the 31st August then they will normally start school in the January before they are five.
Primary schools now offer all Reception places to children in September. This does not mean that your child has to leave nursery and go to Reception in September. The place can be taken up in January or even Easter if that would be best for your child. Many children who were born in the late spring or summer really benefit from staying in the nursery for an extra term or two. The decision to defer the place should be made in consultation with your child’s key worker.
Once a place has been offered by a primary school it cannot be withdrawn.

You must Make an online application for a reception place, even if your child is already attending the school's nursery.
You must apply via the e-admissions portal.
