This year's May Day Bank Holiday is on Friday 8th May which is VE Day. VE Day took place on 8th May 1945. VE Day stands for Victory in Europe Day. It marked the end of World War II in Europe. The day was a public holiday, where people sang and danced outside their homes, and held street parties. This year many of the events and street parties that were due to be held have had to be cancelled or postponed, but many communities and streets will be putting bunting up at their windows and across their streets to mark the occasion.
